BOSTON (WHDH) – The Metropolis of Boston is honoring the late, nice Invoice Russell, renaming the North Washington Road Bridge for the Celtics legend.
State and native leaders and Boston Celtics management and gamers hosted a press convention to announce the renaming of the bridge to the William Felton “Invoice” Russell Bridge on Monday.
The bridge renaming will honor his dedication to civil rights and the fostering of Boston’s youth and younger athletes.
The bridge, presently below building, spans the Charles River and connects Charlestown to the West Finish and North Finish close to TD Backyard.
These in attendance included Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Governor Maura Healey, Rep. Aaron Michlewitz, Jeannine Russell, Celtics Co-Proprietor Stephen Pagliuca, David Shapiro, President and CEO of the YMCA of Higher Boston, in addition to former and present Celtics gamers.
Russell handed away in 2022.
