NEW YORK (AP) — Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer every drove in a run, and eight Toronto pitchers shut down the New York Yankees in a 5-2 victory Wednesday evening that despatched the Blue Jays to the American League Championship Collection for the primary time in 9 years.
Nathan Lukes offered a two-run single and Addison Barger had three of Toronto’s 12 hits because the pesky Blue Jays, fouling off powerful pitches and persistently placing the ball in play, bounced proper again after blowing a five-run lead in Tuesday evening’s loss at Yankee Stadium.
AL East champion Toronto took the best-of-five Division Collection 3-1 and can host Recreation 1 within the best-of-seven ALCS on Sunday towards the Detroit Tigers or Seattle Mariners.
These groups are set to resolve their playoff sequence Friday in Recreation 5 at Seattle.
Ryan McMahon homered for the wild-card Yankees, unable to stave off elimination for a fourth time this postseason as they did not repeat as AL champions.
Regardless of a terrific playoff efficiency from Aaron Choose following his earlier October troubles, the 33-year-old star slugger stays and not using a World Collection ring. New York remains to be chasing its twenty eighth title and first since 2009.
